The Canadian Journal on Aging acknowledges the funding support of Health Canada's International Year of Older Persons program, the Providence Centre Foundation and interRAIin the production of this special Supplement. InterRAI is a 20-country not-for-profit, research network, and the papers published in this issue are the result of the collaborative efforts of its members. InterRAI and the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) have recently formed a partnership aimed at supporting the broad implementation of interRAI's assessment systems for home care and long-term care facilities in Canada (see "http://www.interrai.org"). The Canadian Collaborating Centre — interRAI, Providence Centre, Toronto, represents interRAIin Canada. The Journal acknowledges the work of its Director, John P. Hirdes, in soliciting these manuscripts and submitting them collectively to the Journal for peer review. The papers in this issue were originally presented at interRAI meetings in Sienna, Italy and Toronto, Canada. The results and conclusions contained herein are those of the authors. No official endorsement by Health Canada is intended, nor should it be inferred.

La Revue canadienne du vieillissement tient à souligner l'apport financier du programme de l'Année internationale des personnes âgées de Santé Canada, du Providence Centre Foundation et de interRAI pour la production de ce numéro spécial. InterRAI est un réseau de recherche sans but lucratif regroupant 20 pays et les textes de ce numéro résultent des efforts collectifs de ses membres. InterRAI et l'Institut canadien de l'information sur la santé (ICIS) ont récemment constitué un partenariat visant la mise en oeuvre élargie des systèmes d'évaluation de interRAI pour la prestation de soins à domicile et pour les établissement de soins de longue durée au Canada (voir "http://www.interrai.org"). C'est le Canadian Collaborating Centre — interRAI, Providence Centre à Toronto qui représente interRAI au Canada. La Revue tient à souligner le travail du directeur, John P.
