Eighteenth-Century
Fiction (ECF) is an international, peer-reviewed quarterly devoted
to the critical and historical investigation of literature and
culture of the period 1660-1832. Since its foundation in 1988,
ECF has expanded its scope to reflect changes in the discipline,
and we now solicit and publish a variety of approaches on a
wide range of relevant cultural materials.
The
text is printed in Caslon, a font based on the designs of William
Caslon (16921766), who released his first typefaces in
1722. The cover picture changes with each number.

Editorial
Policy
Recognizing the fluid notions of fiction within the period, as well
as the growing body of interdisciplinary work by scholars in the field,
the ECF editors seek submissions that conceive of "fiction"
in its broader sense and expand the frameworks of critical, historical,
and theoretical discussion. While its languages of publication are
English and French, the journal publishes articles that cover all
geographical territories.
Articles about the fiction of other languages are welcomed, and comparative
studies are particularly encouraged. The editors consider submissions
on late seventeenth-century or early nineteenth-century work and topics
too, particularly when they are discussed in connection with some
aspect of the eighteenth century.
The suggested
length for manuscripts is 6,000-8,000 words. The Chicago Manual of
Style is used for most points in ECF. To submit an essay to the journal,
please choose "Submit Article" at: http://digitalcommons.mcmaster.ca/ecf/.
As ECF evaluates manuscripts anonymously, the author's name ought
not to appear on the article itself. Please direct editorial questions
to ecf@mcmaster.ca.
