UPCOMING SPECIAL ISSUES!

The next issue of UTQ, (77:3) Milton in America offers a series of fresh new perspectives on the presence of Milton in American literature and culture. It seeks to investigate and complicate the received
wisdom implicit in the old claim that 'Milton is more emphatically American than any
author who has lived in the United States.'

---------------------------

As well, issue 77:4 will highlight a multi-faceted talent and Nobel prize-winner in the field of literature, Rabindranath Tagore.

Tagore's appeal extends to musicians, educators, choreographers, and rural development practitioners; he was a true polymath, fluent in all of these fields. In particular, one of the essays included in the issue deals with Tagore's influence on Western composers.

Acclaimed as one of the finest journals focused on the humanities, the University of Toronto Quarterly publishes interdisciplinary articles and reviews of international repute. This interdisciplinary approach provides a depth and quality to the journal that attracts both general readers and specialists from across the humanities. UTQ accepts submissions in either English or French. Discover Canada’s Best Kept Literary Secret! - Letters in Canada Subscribers anticipate the ‘Letters in Canada’ issue, published each winter, which contains reviews of the previous year’s work in Canadian fiction, poetry, drama, translations and works in the humanities.

Many of the recent issues have contained over 650 pages of the year's work in creative writing and scholarship!

Editorial Policies
University of Toronto Quarterly welcomes contributions in all areas of the humanities - literature, philosophy, fine arts, music, the history of ideas, cultural studies, and so on. It favours articles that appeal to a scholarly readership beyond the specialists in the field of the given submission.

University of Toronto Quarterly does not publish fiction or poetry.

The languages of the journal are English and French. Quotations from texts in other languages should normally be in the original language, with translations appended. University of Toronto Quarterly follows a house style based on The Chicago Manual of Style. Bibliographical information should be provided in a humanities style ‘Works Cited’ list at the end of the article, with minimal identifying information in parenthesis in the text. Substantive or discursive amplification should appear in footnotes. All text, including footnotes and ‘Works Cited’, should be double-spaced. Do not justify right margins.

The editors would prefer to receive two non-returnable copies. If return is required, submissions should be accompanied by return postage (in Canada) or international reply coupons (elsewhere, including the USA).
